The Italian construction industry association ANCE warns of a standstill in the implementation of PNRR infrastructure projects. Reason: The current EU fiscal rules of the Stability Pact endanger the financing of ongoing construction sites that are co-financed by the EU recovery fund. Association president Brancaccio supports the demand from Infrastructure Minister Salvini for an exemption for reconstruction projects. Such a derogation model would partially exempt EU-funded major construction projects from budget constraint rules – a precedent-setting step in European fiscal policy.
