The Ulm-based flooring manufacturer UZIN UTZ has invested in the construction company Gropyus, which specializes in modular timber construction systems with serial production. The investment amount was not disclosed. Gropyus builds residential and office buildings with prefabricated room modules that are already equipped at the factory with flooring – a segment that is becoming increasingly relevant for manufacturers of technical flooring systems. The investment could give UZIN UTZ early access to tenders and product customization in the growing field of serial construction, which according to the German Federal Ministry of Construction is expected to gain significant volume by 2025.
