Brick manufacturer Schlagmann Poroton has commissioned a new production facility and is thereby expanding its manufacturing capacity. The timing of the investment appears remarkable: while building permits in residential construction continue to decline in 2024 and demand for mineral building materials is under pressure, the company is investing in expansion. For planners, the expanded availability of facing bricks – particularly high-insulation Poroton-T bricks with λ-values up to 0.07 W/(m·K) – could improve supply security for energy-efficient masonry projects. Details regarding the investment volume or additional annual capacity were not disclosed.
