The Villa Neo documented on World-Architects illustrates the use of building elements for thermal separation by manufacturer Schöck in a representative residential construction project. Thermal separation systems that minimize thermal bridges at building component connections and thereby improve U-values of building envelopes have so far been regarded primarily as a solution for energy-optimized utility buildings. Publication on a renowned architecture platform suggests that planners are increasingly using such systems as standard in architecturally sophisticated projects – driven by stricter EnEV successor regulations and increased requirements for summer thermal protection. For manufacturers, this could mean an expansion from a technical niche segment into upscale residential construction.
