Ulrike Brouzi is taking over as chair of the supervisory board of Salzgitter AG. The personnel change at the top of the control body is taking place at a strategically important time: The steel group is facing transformation towards low-CO2 production through direct reduction and green hydrogen. For the building materials industry, this development is relevant because structural steel, with around 1.9 tons of CO2 per ton of material, is among the most emission-intensive building materials. The new management will also help decide on the implementation of the SALCOS strategy for climate-neutral steel production.
