Salzgitter AG is taking full control of the Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM) steel mill in Duisburg following ThyssenKrupp's exit. The realignment could have medium-term impacts on the availability of structural steels according to DIN EN 10025 as well as on price structures in the German beam and bar steel market. For planners and steel constructors, it remains crucial whether Salzgitter can maintain previous supply chains and product quality – particularly for high-strength structural steels of strength classes S355 to S460 – without restrictions. The consolidation marks another step in the reorganization of the German steel industry.
