This revisit project will generate empirical durability data that could establish benchmarks for future infrastructure projects across British road construction.
The study addresses a critical gap in the built environment sector: whilst concrete paving solutions are widely deployed in UK highways and urban realms, comprehensive durability tracking remains sparse. Long-term monitoring data directly inform lifecycle cost assessments and environmental impact calculations—both increasingly relevant as specifiers navigate EU Taxonomy requirements and embodied carbon reporting obligations under building regulations.
For architects, engineers, and procurement professionals, the emerging dataset holds particular significance for whole-life cost modelling and carbon footprint justification.
